Electrostatic Powder Coating

Electrostatic Powder Coating has been developed and improved over the years to offer a variety of strong, durable finishes for all types of industries and all types of requirements. This is our most popular coating option because of the wide range of colors, textures, and finishes available. Custom color-matching is also available.

Prior to the application of powder, raw parts are typically washed in a balanced wash process which applies pre-treatment chemistry to the metal surface to ensure superior adhesion and a highly uniform finish that meets rigorous testing standards. Then, a process called electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) is used to achieve the application of the powder coating to a metal substrate. This application method uses a spray gun, which applies an electrostatic charge to the powder particles, which are then attracted to the grounded part.

After the application of the powder coating, the parts enter a curing oven where, with the addition of heat, the coating chemically reacts to produce long molecular chains, resulting in high cross-link density. The powder begins to flow together and gel, creating an even and uniform painted surface. These molecular chains are very resistant to breakdown.
